SPE M12 Hybrid Single-Pair Ethernet + Power Cable (IEC 63171-7)

Single-Pair Ethernet M12 hybrid assembly to IEC 63171-7. One shielded pair carries 1000BASE-T1 up to 1 Gbps; two power contacts carry 8 A at up to 63 V DC. PUR jacket, IP67 when mated, built to your length and pinout.

Overview

This SPE M12 hybrid cable assembly is built to IEC 63171-7 and carries Ethernet
over a single shielded pair together with power contacts in the same M12 connector.
Compared with running a separate data cable and a separate
supply cable, one hybrid assembly cuts connector count, panel cut-outs and cable
diameter – the reason the interface is being taken up on compact automation nodes,
robot joints and IIoT edge devices where space is the binding constraint.

Construction and Materials

Each SPE M12 hybrid interface uses the IEC 63171-7 contact layout: two contacts carry the
differential data pair and the remaining ways carry power up to 8 A each, with a
shield pin tied to the cable screen for 360° EMC termination. The document
defines multiple mating interfaces, each keyed by its own coding, so an
incompatible connector mechanically will not mate – that keying is what keeps an
SPE hybrid plug out of a classic A-, D- or X-coded M12 socket. The cable is a
single shielded data pair plus the power conductors under a PUR jacket chosen for
oil and abrasion resistance. Halogen-free PUR and other jacket compounds are
available when the application requires them.

Typical Applications

  • Robot joint and end-of-arm tooling wiring, where one SPE M12 hybrid run replaces a
data lead and a supply lead through the same cable track
  • IIoT edge nodes, vision-system devices and remote I/O blocks that need
Gigabit backhaul and tens of watts over a single connector
  • Compact drives, servo modules and distributed field devices where panel
space and connector count are the constraint

Compatibility and Fitment

Mates with IEC 63171-7 SPE M12 sockets, including styles using the M12 screw
thread, the P12 push-pull latch or the C12 combined mechanism. It is not
interchangeable with classic A-, B-, D- or X-coded M12 connectors – the codings
differ by design, which is what prevents a mismatched pair from being forced
together. Before ordering, confirm which transmission standard your PHY supports:
10BASE-T1L, 100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1 all run over one pair but at very different
rates and reaches, and the cable construction is specified to match.

Custom Builds and Ordering

Length, way count, coding, locking style, jacket compound and conductor cross
section are all configurable. Tell us the transmission standard, the power
current per contact, the ingress rating and the mating face you need and the build
will be quoted to that specification. We do not publish a fixed list price because
SPE M12 hybrid assemblies are quoted per build. Lead time depends on length, way count
and connector tooling.

Packaging and Shipping

Each cable is individually bagged and labeled with coding, length and lot.
Bulk packaging is used for OEM volume orders. Shipments leave our facility within
the lead time confirmed on the order acknowledgement.

Quality and Compliance

IEC 63171-7 defines the mechanical mating information, pin assignment, contact
ratings and the electrical, mechanical and environmental test regime for this
interface, which is what makes the connector interoperable across vendors. We
build and verify to that specification; the ingress rating quoted for a finished
assembly is the one the complete connector, cable and equipment interface is built
to, and it is confirmed by test before production. Documentation for RoHS, REACH
and other compliance requirements is provided per build on request.
