Cable Assemblies for Medical Devices

In a medical assembly, the parts that fail are rarely the parts the datasheet talks about. They are the strain relief where a lead is pulled, the jacket where it meets a cleaning agent, and the documentation gap that appears when a device goes into an audit.

HKWIRE is a custom cable assembly manufacturer and OEM/ODM supplier in Longgang, Shenzhen. We build medical cable assemblies to your drawing and your documented acceptance criteria, with the paperwork agreed before production starts.

What this application demands

These are the constraints that change the design. Everything else is a normal cable.

Chemical and cleaning exposure
The jacket and overmold have to survive the cleaning agents actually used on the device, not just a generic ‘chemical resistance’ claim.
Sterilization compatibility
Material behavior under the sterilization method you use is a material selection problem. We will tell you which of our compounds are and are not appropriate for it.
Low-noise lead sets
Triboelectric noise from cable movement matters at low signal levels. Construction, shielding and strain relief all contribute.
Strain relief at the handset end
The point where a lead is grabbed and pulled. This is where overmold geometry earns its cost.
Material traceability
Certificates traceable to the material lot, retained under your part reference.

What we can and cannot document

We build to your drawing and your documented acceptance criteria. We supply material certificates with lot traceability, first-article inspection reports in your format, and 100% continuity and pinout testing. Where a regulated device requires a certified quality management system, biocompatibility documentation or a submission package that we do not hold, we tell you at quotation rather than at final inspection.

If your device program needs a supplier with a specific certification, ask us directly. An honest ‘no’ at quotation is cheaper for you than a surprise at audit.

What we ask before quoting

Answer these with the drawing and the quotation will be meaningful on the first pass.

  1. Cleaning agents and sterilization method the assembly will see
  2. Material or biocompatibility requirements, if any
  3. Flex or bend cycles expected at the connector and handset end
  4. Documentation you need: material certificates, FAI report, test data
  5. Mating connector part numbers and annual volume

A medical cable supplier that documents what it builds

Two things matter more than the cable here: repeatability, and being able to prove it. We supply material certificates with lot traceability, first article inspection reports, and electrical test results for the agreed scope. Where you have a documented acceptance criterion, we build and inspect to it rather than to our own idea of good.

Assembly and inspection follow IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 workmanship criteria under an ISO 9001 certified quality management system, with 100% continuity and pinout testing on every unit. High-temperature builds often use our silicone wire harnesses. Test scope and report format are confirmed in writing before release — see testing and validation. Audits, in person or by live video, can be arranged in advance.

What to send with your RFQ

  1. Cleaning agents and sterilization method the assembly will see
  2. Material or biocompatibility requirements, if any
  3. Flex and mating cycles expected at the connector and handset end
  4. Documentation required — material certificates, FAI report, test data

Send the specification and the mating connectors

We will confirm what the cable has to survive, flag anything that will cost you money without adding function, and quote against your drawing.

Medical cable assembly FAQ

What is your MOQ?

Production orders start at 500 pcs; prototype and evaluation builds start from 1 to 50 pcs. Repeatable small batches are common for device makers still iterating.

Can you supply material certificates and lot traceability?

Yes. Material certificates with lot traceability are supplied as standard, alongside first article inspection and electrical test results for the agreed scope.

Do you build for repeated sterilization?

We build to the sterilization method you specify and select materials accordingly — including silicone jacketing for repeated autoclave and high-temperature cycles. Confirm the method and cycle count with the RFQ.

Can you make low-noise shielded lead sets?

Yes. Shielding construction, drain-wire termination and connector bonding are specified with you, then held constant between orders.

Can we audit the factory?

Yes. On-site audits or a live video walk-through of the assembly lines and inspection benches can be arranged in advance.

Do you build medical cable assemblies under our brand?

Yes. We work as an OEM and ODM manufacturer and supplier for device makers, building to your drawing and your documented acceptance criteria, with labeling and packaging to your spec.

Can you supply low-noise lead sets for patient monitoring?

Yes. Shielded low-noise lead sets, extension cables and probe cables with overmolded strain relief, supplied from our factory by the manufacturer with material certificates and lot traceability.
