The M12 x code runs from a Cat6A to an RJ45 shielded industrial Ethernet cable.
Overview
M12 X-coded to RJ45 industrial Ethernet cable assembly carrying 10 Gbps over Cat6A S/FTP. X-coding per IEC 61076-2-109 is the only M12 keying that supports 10GBASE-T: the 8-pin layout with an internal cross-shaped shield isolates four twisted pairs so the circular form factor can deliver 500 MHz bandwidth with the same noise immunity as a shielded RJ45 patch cord.
Key Specifications
| Coding | X per IEC 61076-2-109 |
|---|---|
| Connector A | M12 X-coded 8-pin male, shielded, IP67 |
| Connector B | RJ45 shielded male (industrial overmould) |
| Cable | 10 Gbps / 500 MHz (10GBASE-T capable) |
| Rated | 0.5 A per contact / 60 V DC |
| Jacket | PUR halogen-free, drag-chain rated, green or black |
Construction and Materials
Four individually foil-shielded twisted pairs of 26 AWG stranded copper plus an overall braid (S/FTP), impedance 100 ohm, rated to ISO/IEC 11801 Class EA. The 8-pin X-coded M12 connector uses pair assignments 1-2, 3-6, 4-5, 7-8. PUR jacket conforms to EN 50363-10-2 for oil and abrasion resistance; halogen-free per IEC 60754-1.
Typical Applications
- GigE Vision and 10GigE Vision camera links on machine-vision lines; high-bandwidth backhaul between industrial switches, edge gateways and PLCs in Industry 4.0 cells; replacement for D-coded 100 Mbps links where bandwidth has become the bottleneck; deterministic real-time traffic (PROFINET IRT, EtherCAT, TSN) on shielded Cat6A infrastructure.
Compatibility and Fitment
M12 X-coded end mates with IEC 61076-2-109 sockets on cameras, switches and industrial PCs; the RJ45 end mates with any standard shielded RJ45 jack on a controller or cabinet. Not compatible with D-coded or A-coded M12 sockets.
Custom Builds and Ordering
Length, connector pin count, coding and jacket material are all configurable. Common builds are listed in the attributes table above; everything else can be specified when requesting a quote. We do not publish a fixed list price because most M12 / M8 assemblies are quoted to a specific build. Lead time depends on length and connector tooling.
Packaging and Shipping
Each cable is individually bagged and labeled with coding, length and lot. Bulk packaging is used for OEM volume orders. Shipments leave our facility within the lead time confirmed on the order acknowledgement.
Quality and Compliance
This product family is designed around the connector codings listed above. The IEC standards referenced (IEC 61076-2-101, IEC 61076-2-109, IEC 61076-2-111, IEC 63171-7, ISO 20653 for IP69K) define the mechanical keying, electrical ratings and sealing performance. Compliance verification (UL, CE, RoHS, REACH) is documented per build on request.
