USB Type-C Magnetic Charging Cable

Overview

Magnetic charging cable with a USB Type-C device-side tip. The Type-C tip is the round magnetic head, and the cable is wired for power delivery up to the level the customer requires. The magnetic coupling is reversible so the tip orientation does not matter when the user brings the cable close to the device.

Construction and Materials

Cable carries 5-conductor USB 2.0 (VBUS / D+ / D- / GND / CC) or a reduced pinout for power-only applications. The round magnetic head is a custom ABS / PC injection mould holding four or five pogo pins. A separate Type-C device-side tip (also a custom mould) plugs into the round head and stays in the device, leaving the round head as the user-facing magnetic surface.

Compatibility and Fitment

Compatible with any USB Type-C device that charges from a standard USB 2.0 power path. For 5 A e-marked current use the e-marked Type-C tip variant. For 240 W EPR charging use a 240 W EPR-rated Type-C cable from our Cat 137 range instead of this magnetic build.

Custom Builds and Ordering

Host plug (USB-A or USB-C), cable length, jacket material and colour, head colour and tip retention force are configurable. New Type-C tip moulds carry a custom mould fee. Sample 7 to 10 working days, production 15 to 20 working days.

PE bag plus brown inner box, 100 pcs per export carton. Retail blister and retail box options available.

Quality and Compliance

USB Type-C wiring per USB Type-C Cable and Connector Specification Release 2.3. Jacket built to UL 758 style 2464. RoHS 2.0 and REACH compliance on file. Final rating depends on the configured tip and cable assembly. Charging and data behaviour follows the <a href=”https://www.usb.org/documents” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>USB-IF published specifications</a> for the USB 2.0 interface and the USB Type-C specification where a Type-C plug is fitted.
