Cat6 S/FTP IP67 Waterproof RJ45 Patch Cord (Industrial, Push-Pull Lock)
A cat6 ip67 waterproof patch cord built around a push-pull locking shell and sealed boot, for the three failures that kill industrial links: broken latch, corroded contacts and vibration.
Overview
A cat6 ip67 waterproof patch cord is bought after something has already failed. Usually the failure is one of three: the RJ45 latch snaps, the unmated port fills with water or dust, or vibration works the plug loose until the link starts dropping. The push-pull locking shell and the sealed boot on this build are there to close those three failure modes, in that order. Everything else — length, jacket, wiring — we build to your drawing.

What fails first in the field
We see the same three failures over and over on industrial Ethernet runs, and each one has a different fix.
| Failure | What causes it | What actually fixes it |
|---|---|---|
| Broken latch | Snagging on a door, a tool, or the cable next to it | A metal or sealed shell that takes the load off the plastic latch |
| Corroded contacts | Water or humidity sitting in an unmated or half-mated port | A rated mated seal plus a dust cap on anything not plugged in |
| Intermittent link | Vibration walking the plug out of the jack | Positive locking — push-pull or threaded — instead of friction |
| Cracked jacket | Oil, coolant or UV on a PVC jacket not rated for it | PUR jacket, chosen for the actual exposure |
The ingress rating itself is defined in IEC 60529 as an industry-general classification: first digit 6 means dust-tight, second digit 7 means 30 minutes under 1 m of water. Two things follow from that. The rating applies to a mated pair, not to an open port. And it is a laboratory classification, not a promise about your washdown cycle — what your assembly is verified to is stated per order.
Where IP67 is genuinely a requirement
- Food and beverage lines hosed down at shift change
- Outdoor cabinets, weigh pads, gates and barrier controls
- Machine tools and welding cells with coolant and swarf
- Rail and rolling stock, where the connector sees vibration and weather
- Marine and offshore panels with salt spray
- Temporary outdoor AV and broadcast, where a link failure stops the show
Splash and standing water sit on different sides of the same table, and the environments above fall on both. Our IP rating reference sets out the test behind each class so the choice follows the site rather than a habit.
Push-pull locking and IEC 61076-3-106
IEC 61076-3-106 covers the rectangular connector families used for industrial Ethernet, including the push-pull variants built around an RJ45 contact set. The point of the standard is intermateability: a push-pull plug to that family should latch into a matching receptacle without an adapter, and it will not mate with a different variant of the same shell size. If you are replacing an existing cord, read the variant off the old connector before ordering — “IP67 RJ45” is not one thing.
Mating durability for this connector family is commonly quoted as an industry-general figure; the cycle count your assembly is built and tested to is stated per order.
Jacket, temperature and the sealed boot
The seal is only as good as the three joints it depends on: between the two connector halves, where the cable enters the over-molded boot, and at the panel or device. A PVC jacket is fine for weather and occasional washdown. Cutting oil, coolant and continuous flexing call for PUR. We quote the operating window for the build you actually order rather than a generic range, because the jacket is what sets it.
Typical applications for this cat6 ip67 waterproof patch cord
- Machine-to-cabinet links on packaging, filling and assembly lines
- Outdoor cabinet and enclosure drops — see our IP67 RJ45 panel coupler for the panel side
- Vision systems on washdown lines, alongside the Cat6A IP69K washdown patch cord
- Mobile machinery and AGV charging bays
- Temporary outdoor stages and broadcast compounds
How to specify your build
- Connector variant on each end — read it off the existing part.
- Length, and whether the run is fixed or moves.
- Jacket — PVC or PUR, and what it will meet: oil, coolant, UV, washdown.
- Dust caps for any end that ships unmated.
- Shielding and grounding at the panel end.
- Quantity, and whether this is a prototype or production.
Workmanship and testing
Build standard for Cat6 S/FTP IP67 Waterproof builds is IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 under ISO 9001, with terminations from 32 to 12 AWG. 100% continuity and pinout are tested on each Cat6 unit before it is packed, and seal checking is quoted whenever an ingress rating is on the drawing.
Material declarations against RoHS and REACH are issued per project, alongside the dimensional and electrical reports agreed at quotation; see certifications, compliance and material declarations. Where your drawing names a UL style or another approval, the build follows your drawing and ships with the supporting document rather than a claim of our own. The ingress rating is built into the joint, following the sealing structures set out in IP67 and IP68 sealing structures and validated against IEC 60529 before release. Custom builds and ordering
On Cat6 S/FTP IP67 Waterproof builds, prototype lots run from 1 to 50 pcs and leave in 3 working days; production runs of 500 pcs and up ship 14 working days after approval. Cat6 OEM and ODM shipments carry your part number and labeling, and we provide material certificates and first-article reports when asked. New tooling adds about 10 working days, and we hold 100 sets of mold tooling in house.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is IP67 enough for a washdown area?
For low-pressure rinse, usually yes. For high-pressure hot water, specify the washdown build — the rating for that duty is defined separately and the jacket and coupling nut change with it.
Does the push-pull plug fit a normal RJ45 jack?
It carries an RJ45 contact set and mates with the matching receptacle in the same family. It is not a drop-in for every office-grade jack — check the receptacle before ordering.
Can I get one sealed end and one normal RJ45?
Yes, that is the pigtail build. It is the right choice when the device sits inside a dry cabinet and only the field end is exposed.
Do you supply dust caps?
Yes. An unmated sealed connector is an open port, and the cap is what keeps the rating meaningful in storage and transit.
