Cat6A S/FTP GigE Vision Screwlock Cable for Drag Chain, 26AWG High-Flex

Description

Built for the Cable Track, Not the Office

A camera bolted to a linear axis or a robot wrist moves every cycle, and the cable feeding it moves with it. Patch cord conductors are optimised for a one-time installation behind a desk; under continuous flexing they work-harden and break at the strain relief. This range is built around a high-flex stranded conductor and a jacket chosen for the motion duty, so the failure mode shifts away from the conductor and back to the connector, where it can be inspected.

Holding the Plug in the Camera

GigE Vision cameras from the major manufacturers use a jack shell with two threaded posts rather than relying on the RJ45 latch. The plug on this cable carries knurled thumb screws that engage those posts, so axial pull from the cable track is carried by the threads, not by a plastic latch tab. Screws are captive in the overmold, which keeps them from being dropped inside a machine during a changeover.

Eight Plug Orientations

Cable exit direction is the detail that decides whether a run is serviceable. The plug body is offered in eight orientations, covering horizontal and vertical exit in both directions plus the intermediate angles, so the cable can be dressed along the axis instead of being folded back on itself to reach an awkward port. Getting the orientation right at the specification stage removes the sharp bend radius that normally shortens drag chain life.

Construction

  • 26AWG stranded high-flex conductors, S/FTP construction with double-layer shielding.
  • Jacket choice: high-flex PVC for fixed routing and light motion, PUR for continuous drag chain, oil and coolant exposure.
  • Nominal overall diameter about 6.6 mm.
  • M2 x 24 mm nickel-plated thumb screws captive in the overmold.
  • Shielded plug shell bonded to the cable braid with a full 360-degree termination.

Flex Life and Data Rate

The cable is specified for continuous drag chain service in the million-cycle range. Real achievable life depends on chain fill, bend radius and traverse speed, so we size the chain with the customer rather than quoting a single figure that would not survive audit. On the data side the construction supports 10 Gb/s over the short link lengths used on machine axes, with the pairs screened individually to hold crosstalk down.

Camera Fitment

This is a generic GigE Vision assembly intended for use with cameras from Cognex, Keyence, Basler, Hikvision, IDS, Daheng Imaging and Allied Vision, among others. Those names are given as fitment guidance only; the product is not supplied or endorsed by any camera manufacturer, and the buyer should confirm the jack thread and the required exit direction against the camera drawing before release.

Ordering

  • Standard lengths: 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15 and 20 m; cut lengths on request.
  • Jacket: high-flex PVC or PUR.
  • Plug orientation: eight variants, selected at the time of order.
  • Optional right-angle plug where the camera sits close to a machine surface.
