Cat6A RJ45 Screw-Lock GigE Vision Cable (S/FTP, High-Flex PUR, Drag Chain)

Overview

A Category 6A industrial Ethernet cable that ends in an RJ45 plug carrying two thumbscrews instead of the usual plastic latch. The screws thread into the mating receptacle on a camera or device and hold the plug in place, so vibration and repeated cable movement cannot work it loose. The other end is a standard shielded RJ45 plug for the host adapter or switch. This is the connector style used on GigE Vision machine-vision cameras and on moving machine axes where a plain click latch is the weakest point of the link.

Construction and Materials

Four twisted pairs of 26 AWG stranded bare copper give the assembly Category 6A / Class EA channel performance to 500 MHz for 10GBASE-T. Each pair carries its own aluminium foil wrap and a tinned copper braid covers the whole bundle, an S/FTP construction that keeps both internal crosstalk and external EMI under control next to drives, motors and weld power. The connector shell is metal and bonds to the braid so the shield continues through the plug instead of stopping at the cable. The moulded boot uses high-flex PUR that resists oil, coolant and abrasion, and the strain relief is moulded over the braid rather than the jacket.

Compatibility and Fitment

The thumbscrew end mates with any RJ45 receptacle that provides 4-40 UNC jackscrew threads, which is the usual arrangement on GigE Vision camera bodies and industrial camera brackets. The host end plugs into any standard RJ45 port. The assembly is wired straight through T568B and supports PoE to IEEE 802.3af, at and bt when the connected equipment supplies it. Thumbscrews are also available in M3 for panels already drilled for metric hardware.

Custom Builds and Ordering

Length, jacket material, thumbscrew thread (4-40 UNC or M3), plug orientation and exit direction are all configurable. Common builds are listed in the attributes table above; everything else can be specified when requesting a quote. We do not publish a fixed list price because most screw-lock assemblies are quoted to a specific build. Lead time depends on length, quantity and connector tooling.

Packaging and Shipping

Each cable is individually bagged and labelled with part description, length and lot code. Bulk packaging is used for OEM volume orders. Shipments leave our facility within the lead time confirmed on the order acknowledgement.

Quality and Compliance

The 8P8C modular interface follows the IEC 60603-7 series. Channel performance is specified to ISO/IEC 11801 Class EA and TIA-568.2-D Category 6A, with 10GBASE-T defined by IEEE 802.3an and Power over Ethernet by IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at and 802.3bt. Sealed bulkhead builds are rated to IP67 per IEC 60529 in both the mated and capped condition. Material and compliance documentation (UL, CE, RoHS, REACH) is provided per build on request; figures that depend on a specific construction are stated on the build drawing rather than generalised here.
