Why the Thread Matters Here

A GX16 shell is held together by a knurled coupling nut that screws onto a matching thread on the receptacle. Nothing in the joint depends on spring tension in a plastic latch or on friction between two smooth barrels, so it does not walk loose under the continuous low-level vibration you get from a spindle drive, a lighting truss full of moving heads, or a pump skid. A plug that merely pushes on will eventually back out and take the signal with it.
