8K HDMI Screw Lock Cable Assembly, HDMI 2.1 48Gbps, M3 Panel Screws
Losing a Link in a Live Environment
In a control room, a broadcast gallery or an operating theatre display chain, an HDMI plug that walks out of its port is not a nuisance — it drops a source in front of an audience or a surgeon. Standard HDMI connectors rely entirely on contact friction, and the retention force falls off as the port is cycled. This assembly adds a pair of M3 thumbscrews that pull the plug shell onto the device jack and carry the cable load on metal threads instead of on the connector interface.
Assembly and Panel Options
The range is supplied in two forms, and most installations use them together: a cable assembly with screw-lock plugs, and a panel-mount coupler that carries the signal through a rack plate or a wall plate with the same screw retention on both faces.
- Screw-lock HDMI plug to screw-lock HDMI plug, in 1, 2, 3 and 5 m lengths.
- Panel-mount female-to-female coupler with a screw-lock face, offered with the plug assembly as a matched pair.
- Moulded plug shell for general installation; metal shell where the cable is subject to abuse or repeated handling.
Signal Performance
- 48 Gb/s total bandwidth, supporting 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 240 Hz.
- HDR metadata pass-through.
- eARC return channel for audio fed back from a display or a sound system.
- HDCP 2.3 content protection supported by the link.
- Gold-plated HDMI contacts with nickel-plated M3 thumb screws.
Screw pitch on the plug is the detail that most often trips up a retrofit. We build to the common M3 on-centre spacing used by screw-lock HDMI jacks and confirm the drawing against the mating hardware before production, because a plug that fits the pitch but not the post depth will not clamp.
Where It Is Specified
- Control rooms and operations centres with sources that cannot drop mid-shift.
- Broadcast and ProAV installations, including mobile and flyaway racks.
- Medical imaging displays where the cable is dressed and left alone for years.
- Simulation and training systems, and LED video wall processors.
Ordering Notes
Lengths are 1, 2, 3 and 5 m on passive copper. Beyond those distances we quote an active or fibre-based assembly instead, since at this bandwidth a passive copper run that is too long does not fail outright — it produces intermittent dropouts that are far more expensive to find. Jacket colour, print legend and shell finish are configurable on production quantities.
