Right Angle USB-C Cable, 80 cm, for Tight Desk and Wall Setups

A right angle USB-C cable that takes the bend out of the first centimeter, so the lead runs along the chassis instead of away from it. One end molded at 90 degrees, 80 cm standard with a 2 m option, and a double right-angle variant for handheld docks.

Overview

A straight plug sticking 30 mm out of the side of a laptop decides where that laptop can sit. Put the machine against a wall or on a shallow shelf and all the strain goes into the port. A right angle USB-C cable takes the bend out of the first centimeter and lets the lead run along the chassis instead of away from it – which is the whole reason this format exists, and the reason the exit direction matters more than any headline number.

Exit direction: the one decision that decides whether it helps

A right-angle plug only solves the problem if it turns the right way. Get it wrong and the lead exits into the wall, the desk or the port next door. Note the port orientation on the device and tell us at enquiry stage; where the layout is unknown, we can supply the molding in both exit directions.

Why 80 cm

Short runs suit a dock or a drive sitting next to the machine. Competitor listings in this class quote 80 cm as the standard passive length at the top data rate, with a two meter option and a double right-angle variant. The reason is straightforward: passive high-rate assemblies lose margin with distance, and 80 cm is what fits a desk while staying inside that margin. The rates quoted for this class are carried over from competitor listings and are listed as requiring confirmation before they become our published specification.

Build notes

  • One end molded at 90 degrees, the other straight, so the lead exits along the chassis and still plugs into a normal socket at the far end.
  • Both ends at 90 degrees for handheld and console dock layouts where both sockets face the same way.
  • Strain relief molded over the plug body rather than clipped on, because a clip-on boot is the part that slides down the cable and then does nothing.
  • Weight held down where the lead hangs off a handheld rather than lying on a desk.

On approvals and figures

We do not imply any brand approval for this product. The descriptions are functional, and any protocol or compliance documentation we hold will be stated as such once the supplier files it. The USB-C connector and cable specifications are the industry reference for the rates and power levels in this class; what your assembly is verified to is measured on the finished build and stated per order.

Typical applications for this right angle USB-C cable

How to specify your build

  1. Exit direction – left or right, read off the host port orientation.
  2. One end or both at 90 degrees.
  3. Length – 80 cm standard, 2 m where the run needs it.
  4. Rate and power class required by the host and the device.
  5. Quantity, and whether this is a prototype or a production order.

Workmanship and testing

Each assembly is built and inspected to IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 criteria within an ISO 9001 quality system, covering 32 to 12 AWG. Continuity and pinout are tested on every unit before packing. Where the specification calls for an ingress rating, seal checking on the batch can be quoted.

Custom builds and ordering

Five pieces is where a prototype starts and it ships in 3 working days. Production requires 500 pcs minimum and takes 14 working days after approval. Non-stock tooling adds around 10 working days. Private-label builds ship under your part number and labeling; material certificates and first-article reports are available on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which way does the plug turn?

Whichever way you need. We mold to the exit direction you specify, read off the host port orientation. If the layout is unknown, we can supply both.

Can I have 90 degrees on both ends?

Yes. The double right-angle variant suits handheld and console dock layouts where both sockets face the same way.

Is 80 cm long enough for a dock under the desk?

Usually not. Take the 2 m option, but remember that passive high-rate assemblies lose margin with distance, so buy the shortest run that reaches.

What is the minimum order?

For prototypes the floor is 5 pcs and lead time is 3 working days. Production orders begin at 500 pcs and ship 14 working days after sample sign-off.
