10BASE-T1L Screw Lock Cable with Sealed M8 or IEC 63171-6 Couplings

Description

Two Wires Replace Four

Single pair Ethernet moves from a four-pair channel to one balanced pair while still carrying data and power. For a plant with hundreds of simple field devices, temperature heads, valve positioners, proximity clusters and small actuators, that changes the physical job: smaller cable, smaller gland, smaller connector, and a route that fits through conduit already close to full.

Distance Without Another Cabinet

The 10BASE-T1L physical layer is defined for long reach at a modest data rate, which is what lets a device sit at the far end of a process skid or a building riser without an intermediate switch. That reach figure, and the power class delivered over the same pair, sit on the confirmation list; we publish them against a measured link rather than a brochure.

Power on the Same Pair

Power over Data Lines puts supply and signalling on one pair. In practice a device at the end of a long run needs one cable, one gland and one termination instead of a separate power drop, and the installer gains a single fault point to test. Current and voltage ratings come from the supplier lead and need datasheet confirmation before they enter a panel schedule.

Why the Coupling Is Screwed, Not Clicked

Field device boxes live on vibrating skids, on pump frames and inside air handling units. A latch-style plug is the first thing to let go there: it works loose, contact resistance climbs, and the fault presents as an intermittent device rather than a broken connector. A threaded or bayonet metal coupling holds the contact faces together, keeps the shield path continuous to the housing, and survives being unmade and remade during commissioning.

Interface Choices

  • M8 single pair coupling, the compact choice for sensor heads and small actuators
  • IEC 63171-6 style coupling where the plant standardises on the SPE interface
  • Shielded one-pair construction with polyurethane or thermoplastic elastomer jacket
  • Straight and right-angle overmoulds for cramped device boxes

Where It Gets Used

Process skids and packaged plant, building automation trunks, valve islands, and long sensor runs in tank farms or car parks where distance alone would previously have forced a fibre converter or an extra enclosure.
