Reversible USB-A to USB-A Cable, USB 2.0
A reversible USB-A cable plugs in either way on both ends, so you never fumble with connector orientation. This USB 2.0 run carries Hi-Speed data at 480 Mbps plus charging power for hubs, docks, kiosks and point-of-sale devices.
Overview
A reversible USB-A cable plugs in either way on both ends, so you never fumble with connector orientation. This USB 2.0 run carries Hi-Speed data at 480 Mbps plus charging power for hubs, docks, kiosks and point-of-sale devices.
A conventional USB-A plug is single-sided: the tongue carries contacts on one face only, so the connector mates in exactly one orientation. A reversible USB-A cable puts contacts on both faces of the tongue, letting either side seat against the host port. Plugging it in upside down still makes a correct connection, which removes the most common daily frustration with USB-A and cuts the wear that repeated mis-insertions put on the socket. Both ends of this assembly use reversible A plugs, so there is no correct side at either connection point.
Reversibility was skipped on the original USB-A for good reasons at the time: engineers assumed the connector would live in fixed spots like keyboards, mice, printers and speakers, so it was plugged in once and left alone, and it had to stay cheap enough to reach mass adoption. Those assumptions are gone today. People now plug and unplug USB-A constantly, and adding contacts to both faces of the tongue costs a fraction of what it did when USB 1.x launched. A reversible USB-A cable keeps every existing socket working while removing the one friction point the original design never anticipated.
Key Specifications
The table below lists the configuration shown in the product photo.
Construction and Materials
Both connectors use double-sided contacts on the USB-A tongue; once one face seats, the opposite face floats out of circuit, so the link always runs on a single clean contact set. The data pair is twisted and impedance-matched for USB 2.0 Hi-Speed signaling, and the assembly is built to order with the jacket, gauge and length suited to the application. Reversible A plugs stay physically compatible with any standard USB-A socket, so no host or device modification is needed.
Typical Applications
Use it where operators plug and unplug USB-A frequently: charging and sync stations, retail kiosks and point-of-sale terminals, warehouse scanners and handheld devices, test and programming benches, and equipment racks where ports sit in dim or hard-to-reach positions. The reversible plugs are especially useful for public-facing or hurried environments where inserting a cable quickly and correctly matters.
Compatibility and Fitment
Reversible USB-A plugs are a drop-in for standard USB-A sockets. Electrically the cable is USB 2.0, so it supports Hi-Speed 480 Mbps data transfer and standard USB power negotiation. It is not a USB 3.x cable and does not carry SuperSpeed signals. Match the host and device to USB 2.0 operation, and confirm the required length, current rating and jacket at ordering.
Custom Builds and Ordering
Lengths, jacket materials, connector finishes and current ratings are produced to order. Provide the application and length, and we will quote the exact build.
Packaging and Shipping
Each cable ships coiled and bagged with caps over the plugs; OEM labels and bulk reel packing are available.
Quality and Compliance
Every assembly is continuity-tested and the data pair is verified before shipment. See the USB interface standard for the governing interface specification.
