Cable Assemblies for Broadcast & Pro AV

A touring cable is handled by people who are not thinking about the cable. It gets coiled, stood on, rolled over, plugged in the dark and packed wet. Durability on a broadcast assembly is a mechanical specification, not a marketing word.

HKWIRE is a custom cable assembly manufacturer and OEM/ODM supplier in Longgang, Shenzhen. Touring and broadcast builds are overmolded on tooling we cut ourselves, so the boot that protects the connector is designed for handling rather than bought off a shelf.

What this application demands

These are the constraints that change the design. Everything else is a normal cable.

Signal integrity over distance
12G-SDI and HDMI have real reach limits that depend on cable construction and connector quality. We specify against the reach you actually need.
Repeated mating cycles
Connector plating and retention, plus overmolded strain relief that keeps the load off the termination.
Crush and tread resistance
Jacket and overmold selection for cables that live on the floor of a stage or an OB truck.
Cold-flex handling
Cables that get coiled in an unheated truck overnight have to stay flexible at the load-in.
Appearance and consistency
Matte black that stays matte, and consistent build between orders so a rack looks like one system.

Built for handling, not for a datasheet

Strain relief that survives the pull

Overmolded boots sized to the cable, with the bend-limiting taper doing the work instead of the connector’s solder cups.

Jacket that survives the floor

Compounds chosen for abrasion and crush resistance rather than the softest feel on the sample.

Connectors you can service

Brand preference honored, and where you have a preferred connector we will confirm the overmold tool fits it before we cut steel.

Repeatable between orders

Specification and tooling retained under your part reference, so the second order matches the first.

What we ask before quoting

Answer these with the drawing and the quotation will be meaningful on the first pass.

  1. Signal standard and the reach you need
  2. Expected mating cycles and handling conditions
  3. Jacket preference: flexibility, color, matte finish
  4. Connector brand preference, or the part numbers you already use
  5. Quantity and spares policy

Touring-grade builds from a factory you can walk through

Overmolded boots are sized to the cable, with the bend-limiting taper doing the work instead of the connector solder cups. Because the tooling is cut in our own tool room, the boot geometry can be revised when a tour reports a failure mode — no minimum re-order, no new supplier.

Builds are assembled and inspected to IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 workmanship criteria under an ISO 9001 certified quality management system, with 100% continuity and pinout testing. Appearance standards — jacket finish, color consistency, labeling — are recorded so a spares order matches the original run. Audits, in person or by live video, can be arranged in advance.

What to send with your RFQ

  1. Signal standard and the reach you need — 12G-SDI, HDMI, DMX, audio
  2. Expected mating cycles and handling conditions
  3. Jacket preference — flexibility, color, matte finish
  4. Quantity and spares policy

Related ranges: audio and video cables and Ethernet patch cords.

Send the specification and the mating connectors

We will confirm what the cable has to survive, flag anything that will cost you money without adding function, and quote against your drawing.

Broadcast & pro AV cable FAQ

What is your MOQ?

Production orders start at 500 pcs and ship 14 working days after approval. Prototypes start from 1 to 50 pcs and leave in 3 working days.

Can you build 12G-SDI and other high-bandwidth coax?

Yes, including 12G-SDI and HD-SDI assemblies with the return-loss performance stated for the reach you need.

Can we specify length, jacket color and printing?

Yes. Length, jacket material, color and custom print or labeling are all specified at quotation and held for reorders.

Will a spares order match the original run?

Yes. The construction, tooling and appearance standards are recorded against your part reference, so a later order matches the original.

Can we audit the factory?

Yes. On-site audits or a live video walk-through of the molding area, assembly lines and test benches can be arranged in advance.

Can you build our cable range under our own brand?

Yes. We work as an OEM and ODM manufacturer and supplier: your brand on the jacket print, your packaging, and the construction held on file in our factory for reorders.

Do you build 12G-SDI and camera cables for broadcast?

Yes. 12G-SDI and HD-SDI coax assemblies, camera power, control and tally cables, and DMX control leads, all built by the manufacturer with overmolded touring-grade strain relief.
